SS-Sturmjager Regiment (1st Hungarian) : ウィキペディア英語版 | SS-Sturmjager Regiment (1st Hungarian)
The 1st Hungarian SS-Sturmjager Regiment is believed to have been made up of approximately 500 Hungarian volunteers who joined the SS after Germany occupied the country in 1944. Raised on 8 January 1945 by the merging of the first and second Hungarian battalions, the Regiment was attached to IV SS Panzer Korps, serving under the command of the 5 SS Panzer Division "Wiking". The Panzer Korps had been transferred from France to Hungary, but could do little to stop the advancing Soviet Armies. ==Losses and retreat==
After suffering heavy losses in January, the Sturmjager Regiment was transferred to the 3 Panzer Division with the III Panzer Korps, where it was used as Infantry. Over the next few weeks, the Regiment was switched between commands several times. During the repeated retreats which took place in Spring 1945, the different parts of the Regiment lost contact with each other, but the combat units continued fighting independently. In the last days of the war, some members of the Regiment reached Austria, where they once more attached to the Wiking, and surrendered to the American troops.
